Richard Owen

Richard Owen (20 July 1804 – 18 December 1892) was an English biologist and among the first paleontologists. He best known for coining the word dinosaur, meaning "terrible lizard" in Latin. He also was a creationist, and heavily criticized Charles Darwin, using dinosaurs as evidence against evolution.

Thomas Huxley (known as "Darwin's Bulldog") embarked on a vicious smear campaign against Owen in an attempt to discredit him.
